Jhola is a 2014 Nepali film in light of a story by essayist Krishna Dharabasi. It is about Sati culture that was pervasive in the Nepalese society until the 1920s in which spouse needed to immolate herself upon her significant other's demise, ordinarily on his burial service fire. For her part, performing artist Garima Panta won Best Actress grant at SAARC Film Festival held in Sri Lanka, 2014. The film was chosen as the Nepali section for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, yet was not selected.
