Two young people and a 47-year-old man were covered to death when they were burrowing a trench for laying another water supply pipe at Sitapaila in Kathmandu at around 1am on Wednesday. They were executed after they were covered when the earth collapsed. The occurrence has conveyed to the fore the sort of safety efforts that are set up in development works in the nation.
The expired have been distinguished as Tej Bahadur KC of Parbat and Santosh Das, 18, and Shyam Sundar Ram, 19, of Saptari, as per the Metropolitan Police Circle Swoyambhu.They were enrolled by Tenzin Raman Constructions, one of the eight development organizations shrunk by the Melamchi Drinking Water Project under the Project Implementation Directorate (PID) of the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL).
"The earth collapsed when the three laborers were going to lay the pipe in the trench they had quite recently uncovered," said Pradhyumna Man Chitrakar, extend director of Tenzin Raman Constructions. As indicated by him, 13 people were working at the site late in the night.
The temporary worker has been introducing funnels in the night in perspective of substantial activity and individuals' development amid the day. Tiresh Prasad Khatri, chief of the PID, KUKL, guaranteed pay to the casualties' families.
The bodies have been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj for posthumous. "Examination is in progress," said Inspector Khem Acharya.
