India, raised on 24 October 1962, under the CRPF Act, in the wake of the Sino-Indian War of 1962. The ITBP was planned for organization along India's fringe with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. 


In September, 1996, the Parliament of India sanctioned the "Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Act, 1992" to "accommodate the constitution and direction" of the ITBP "for guaranteeing the security of the outskirts of India and for matters associated therewith". The principal leader of the ITBP, assigned Inspector General, was Balbir Singh, a cop beforehand having a place with the Intelligence Bureau. The ITBP, which begun with 4 regiments, has since rebuilding in 1978 has experienced development to a compel of 54 brigades as of 2016with an authorized quality of 89,430.
