As the uncertain strike called by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) enters its seventh day in Darjeeling Hills, challenges over the interest for a different state are set to increase as GJM supporters gathered at Chowk Bazaar on Sunday morning. The quiet rally was done to challenge the passing of three activists. GJM boss Bimal Gurung had requested that his supporters resist time limit and assemble for Sunday's dissent.
On Saturday, no less than three activists of the GJM were killed and a few people harmed as dissidents conflicted with police in Darjeeling Hills. A senior cop was additionally harmed and is said to be in a basic condition. While the GJM asserted their three of their unit were murdered in police terminating, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee denied the charges. Armed force troops have additionally been sent in the area.
The present agitation in Darjeeling started after the West Bengal government reported making Bengali an obligatory dialect in the schools of the area.
