The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), otherwise called CPN–UML and CPN (UML), is one of the two biggest political gatherings and the biggest comrade party in Nepal. It was made on January 6, 1991 through the unification of the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist–Leninist). CPN (UML) was a result of the Jana Andolan (People's Movement) uprising where communists, together with the Nepali Congress, assumed a noteworthy part to reestablish majority rules system in Nepal.
In the latest decisions, the CPN–UML developed as the second biggest gathering in the Constituent Assembly winning 175 out of 575 seats.
The fifth party congress (and the first after the unification, the four initially being of the first Communist Party of Nepal) was held in Kathmandu in January 1993. Individuals' Multiparty Democracy was received as the gathering program. Madan Bhandari was chosen General Secretary and Man Mohan Adhikari was chosen Chairman. Later that year Bhandari passed on in a vehicle episode at Dashdhunga in Chitwan. After Bhandari's passing, Madhav Kumar Nepal was chosen General Secretary, and he stayed in post until 2008.
