KATHMANDU: The yearly celebration of Ghode Jatra, otherwise called the Horse Racing Day which falls in the Nepali month of Chaitra, is being commended in the Kathmandu Valley with much zeal today. 


The Nepal Army rangers group performs distinctive creative tricks riding on their stallions to check the day. 


The Ghode Jatra is known as the most established celebration celebrated in the nation's social center point of the Valley. 


The celebration is being praised yearly according to a mythology which relates the beginning of the celebration after the demise of an evil spirit named Tundi. 


Legends have it that the evil presence who lived on a knoll, which is presently at Tundikhel, used to induce dread among the Kathmandu natives. After his passing individuals celebrated by moving on his body by riding steeds. 


There is a conviction that the parade of stallions at Tundikhel keeps the evil presence's soul away. The speedier the stallions run, the better Tundi's soul is dissipated. According to another legend, the Ghode Jatra is held to check the begin of New Year. 


The celebration is praised upon the arrival of Aunsi, according to the lunar schedule, which is a day prior to the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada and this day is taken as the begin of the New Year. 


The steed parade, referred to religiously known as Aswa Yatra, is sorted out to welcome the New Year. 


The day preceding Ghode Jatra is otherwise called Pichas Chaturdarshi, according to the lunar logbook.
