Five authorities including the head of Transport Management Office in Itahari of Sunsari have been suspended on Wednesday after they were blamed for stealing income.
Head of the workplace, Under-Secretary Nayaraj Nepal, Account Officer Tikaram Adhikari, Accountant twosome Suresh Adhikari and Rudra Prasad Dahal and Nayab Subba Tika Banstola have been blamed for stealing Rs 565.8 million from the state coffers.
Suresh Adhikari is said to be the driving force behind the misappropriation.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport chose to suspend the authorities and keep in touch with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority to dispatch a point by point test into the case today.
The Ministry's inward examination had found the five being included in the misappropriation for most recent three years.
Chief General at the Department of Transport Management, Rup Narayan Bhattarai, said the further examination would be completed by the CIAA.
