Nepalis, particularly the Hindu ladies, watch the month-long celebration worshiping four-gave god Swasthani with Chakra, Trishul, Sword and Lotus in each hand at the inside while Astha Matrika or eight gods of energy — Mahakali, Baishnavi, Brahmi Maheshwori, Kaumeshwari, Barahi, Indraayani, and Chamunda painted around her—and discussing Swasthani Brat Katha (story) ordinary.

The month-long advising custom is devoted to the goddess and the stories that are essentially described are those of Swasthani Devi, God Shiva and different divine beings.

It is trusted that goddess Swasthani helped goddess Sati beat her inconveniences after she consumed herself at Dakhsya Prajapati's Yagya, in the wake of hearing her significant other, master Shiva, being offended.
